FPSO: The Connected Vessel

FPSO: The Connected Vessel

iMakerXR collaborated with Rockwell Automation to create an interactive model of a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. This interactive model serves to contextualize Rockwell Automation’s range of solutions, allowing customers to visually explore innovative ways to mitigate risk and enhance overall operational efficiency in the context of FPSO operations.

Client: Rockwell Automation
Location: United States
Service: Virtual Worlds / Interactive Applications
Industry: Automation

Challenge:

Oil and gas companies are eager to automate operations in order to obtain greater production efficiency, maximize uptime and keep their operations safe. Implementing these control systems into complex offshore facilities such floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessels can seem daunting. As the leading automation specialist in onshore and offshore production, Rockwell Automation engaged iMakerXR to create a tool that enables companies to see how Rockwell Automation’s full range of solutions can help them meet their operational goals.

Solution:

Working in unison with Rockwell Automation subject matter experts, iMakerXR built a digital replica of an FPSO vessel, complete with a layout of the topside facilities onboard. With the 3D replica serving as the base, iMakerXR developed an interactive web application allowing users to freely explore key locations throughout the vessel. Using animation and 360-degree renders, users can tour the true-to-scale environment with their mouse and activate hotspots throughout the interactive application to learn more about Rockwell Automation’s broad portfolio of offshore offerings. Take a glimpse into the future of offshore production with Rockwell Automation, The Connected Vessel.
